/ Kerry criticises Government for suggesting scrapping rail electrification
This week the Transport Secretary gave the impression that he’s trying to wriggle out of the vital electrification works, which have already been delayed by at least six years – after preparatory works made east Bristol even more congested than usual.
It’s wrong to pose this false choice between either improvements to cross-country services or better local rail. Bristolians need both, urgently, and I will continue to put pressure on the Government to get on with it.
