/ Kerry welcomes House of Lords' amendment to Article 50 Bill
I welcome yesterday’s vote – by 358 to 256 – in the House of Lords to amend the Government’s two-clause Article 50 Bill to guarantee the rights of EU nationals already living in the UK.
As has been painfully clear from constituency surgeries both before and after the referendum, this uncertainty is deeply worrying for families and and businesses here in east Bristol.
Neither EU nationals living in the UK nor UK citizens living across the continent should become bargaining chips in Brexit negotiations; I voted for a similar measure, moved by Labour, in the Commons last month and will continue to support guaranteeing these rights.
